Repost: Cody and Daniel catch up
Set before their dinner, and a just as a matter of record as IJ ate the thread.

Cody: Daniel?

Daniel: You called?

Cody: *amused* So to the point.

Hey...just wanted to tell you I was back is all. I missed you.

Daniel: I'm just always at your beck and call, you know that. *grins*

I'd heard. Really?...Really, really? *little boy look*

Cody: Hmmm, I hear you're a busy man about town. *smile*

Yes. Really, really missed you. We should have dinner. There are some things I need to talk to you about and I really want to see you.

Daniel: Oh yeah, I'm the big boss over here now.

*beams* I missed you too, Cody. Lots. I'm so glad you're back. Just dinner, huh? We could have it in my rooms. Tonight? I want to see you too.

Cody: That's what I heard. You deserve it, completely. You've worked so hard.

Dinner. *smile* And yes, we can have it in your rooms. I think it would be fun to just relax and talk.

Daniel: *laughs* Yeah. I think dad just wanted me out of the way, but not too far.

Great. They make this really great seafood dish here, house specialty. Just relax and talk? You haven't gone all boring on me, Cody? *teases*

Cody: Your father loves you dearly, Dan. He just wants you to have something to call your own. I think he's very proud of the success you've had.

That sounds fantastic. And no, I haven't gone boring. *laughs* But I haven't seen you in a while. We need to catch up.

Daniel: Sure. Or he would be if I could be the son he wanted and wasn't a constant source of disappointment...okay, shutting up now.

Good! *sudden grin* You've been gone too long, and I do want to hear about all your adventures.

Cody: *gently* I know he's hard to understand and all. But I promise you, he really does love you...very much.

*laugh* Oh, yes, lots of adventure. But mostly I just missed you guys.

Daniel: *just shrugs, making out he doesn't care*

You shouldn't have stayed away so long then. *smiles*

Cody: You know why I had to go. The power struggle with Roma was causing a problem between your father and I. Roma was using it to play us against each other.

*looks down* My daughter is a spoiled young lady, and she uses Hsu to avoid the values and ethics I am trying to teach her.

Daniel: Yeah, I know that. But you didn't have to stay away so long.

*sly grin* And yet you left her with him, knowing just how impeccable his values and ethics are.

Cody: I know, Dan. I just got distracted and working...but you're right. I stayed away too long.

Your father has many of the ethics that I want Roma to learn. Hard work, loyalty? Besides, I didn't leave her with your father. I left her with Opal. You know that she's more than capable to handle Roma.

Daniel: I'm glad you realize that.

Well, from what I hear, I don't think those are the only lessons she's been learning. *smirk* She's a formidable woman, but Roma's quite inventive.

Cody: Yes, well, Opal told me. That's one of the things I need to talk to you about. Roma needs to be in school, and she needs to be directed in some less hedonistic directions. I was hoping you might help me influence her.

Daniel: ME!? *bursts out laughing* Cody, in all the time you've known me, have you seen me be a good influence on anyone? I'm as much a spoiled brat as she is.

Cody: You're not a brat. I think you're pretty wonderful, Dan. Besides, there are reasons, and I know you would help me with this. It's important to me.

Daniel: Thanks, I know I am, but dad gave me a pleasure moon to play with, doesn't get more spoiled than that. *grins*

You sound serious. If it's that important, you know I'll try to help. Haven't got a clue how, but I'll try.

Cody: Well, I know that you have more responsibility than it looks like. Safety, politics, being a good ambassador...I know you work hard and you do a great job. *She's always been very encouraging of Dan, always giving him the praise and attention he needed.*

Well, I think that once we talk, you'll understand the depth of the problem. *smiles* Let's play dress up, huh? Remember? Like when you were a kid and started dating? I'll get all dressed up for you, and we'll have a nice dinner. Just for you, Dan.

Daniel: *smiles at her praise as he always has* Yeah, I do. And I get to surf and snowboard as much as I want. Pretty perfect, in fact.

*frowns, wondering what has her so serious* Sure...I remember. I love to see you all dressed up. You always look sensational. Just for us. You'll stay the night, won't you?

Cody: Work hard, play hard, it's the way we do it, right? *beams with pride at him*

*nods* Yes, I'll stay. If you want me to. But we'll see how it goes. Roma has been giving Opal fits, lately, sneaking outside of the compound barriers.

Daniel: All the time! *grins*

You know I always want you to stay. *pouts just a little* Has she really? *surpresses a grin* She could always stay here, one of the rooms has cages.

Cody: Don't tempt me when it comes to my headstrong daughter. I'm about ready to send her to a convent. *sighs* She insulted the son of the Premier of Mungat, told the kid he had breath like a sandworm. Hsu indulges her too much.

This dinner is going to be just us, right? Not your crew of wild boys? *eyebrow lift*

Daniel: Not with those cat nuns? She'd love that. *snickers* Well, you can't fault her honesty.

Wild? They're just exuberant. *grins* Just us, Pirne and the others would just get jealous. OH! Are you flying in or teleporting? Just that if it's the latter, you'll need the security code. *smirks* Don't tell Andy I changed it.

Cody: No, I can only fault her laziness, lack of discipline and direction, rudeness, manipulations of your father and utter contempt for rules. The cat nuns would do her a world of good.

They're insane. *laughs* Teleport, if I'm dressing up. *frowns* Dan, you need to not do that. What if there's an emergency?
